Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Bellwork iOS app and this website, bellworkapp.com.
The short version
Bellwork stores your training data on your device. It has no accounts, Bellwork servers, analytics, advertising, or tracking, and the developer cannot see your profile or workouts. Data leaves Bellwork only when you choose an action that sends or saves it somewhere else, such as using Apple Health, exporting a file, or contacting support. This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
Who is responsible
The controller within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the Bellwork app and this website is:
This website
This website consists of static pages. It uses no cookies, analytics, browser storage, or embedded third-party content.
The site is hosted in Germany by united-domains GmbH, Gautinger Straße 10, 82319 Starnberg, Germany. When you visit, the hosting provider processes technical connection data — including the page requested, date and time, IP address, and browser information — in server logs. This is necessary to deliver the site securely and reliably and to detect abuse; the legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We do not use these logs to identify or profile visitors. United-domains states that log files and temporary data are generally retained for a few days and for no longer than 60–90 days, depending on security or operational needs. See the united-domains privacy notice for details.
What the Bellwork app stores
Bellwork stores the information you enter and the settings you choose locally on your device. This includes your profile and training preferences, progression state, logged Bellwork workouts, other training, swing-test results, workout templates, settings, and any in-progress workout.
Bellwork does not upload this data to a Bellwork server or make it available to the developer. Data leaves Bellwork only when you choose an action that does so, such as adding completed workouts to Apple Health, exporting a file, or including information in a support message.
What the Bellwork app does not collect
Bellwork has no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising, or usage tracking. It does not automatically send the developer your name, email address, location, contacts, device identifiers, profile, or training data. We do not sell personal data. Information you choose to send or save through Apple Health, an export, email, or the contact form is handled as described below.
Apple Health
Apple Health access is optional and turned off until you enable it. Bellwork asks Apple Health for permission separately, and you can grant or revoke that access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.
When enabled, Bellwork reads recent workout records from Apple Health: the workout type, start and end time, duration, and an identifier used to avoid showing the same workout twice. It also checks the workout source so it does not suggest workouts that Bellwork itself saved. Bellwork uses this information only to suggest other training you might want to log. It does not read heart rate, calories, body weight, sleep, or other health data. If you also turn on saving to Apple Health, Bellwork adds your completed Bellwork kettlebell workouts — and only those, never other training you log, such as runs, walks, or classes.
Workouts read from Apple Health do not affect your prescriptions until you manually tag their type and intensity. Anything read from Apple Health stays on your device under the same rules as the rest of your data.
Exporting your data
You can export your data from Settings. The JSON export is a complete copy of Bellwork's database, including your profile, progression state, workout history, other training, swing-test results, workout templates, and any in-progress workout. The CSV export is a readable spreadsheet of your logged Bellwork workouts, other training, and swing tests that you can open in Numbers, Excel, or Google Sheets. Bellwork creates the file and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet so you can save it to Files, send it to another app, or store it wherever you choose.
An export is a copy you can keep and read. Bellwork can't yet load one back in, so it's for your own records and portability rather than restoring the app — a fresh install starts empty unless you restore from a device backup.
Once you share or save that file, it leaves Bellwork and is governed by wherever you put it — for example, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or another app's privacy terms. Bellwork has no involvement in or visibility into the file after you export it.
Backups
If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, Bellwork's local data may be included and is then handled as part of that backup. Bellwork itself does not operate a cloud backup or sync service.
Deleting your data
Deleting Bellwork removes its local database and settings from your iPhone. It does not delete exported files, copies retained in a device backup, or workouts previously added to Apple Health; you manage those wherever they are stored. There is no data on a Bellwork server to delete.
When you contact us
If you contact us by email or through the contact form, we receive your email address and message. We use them only to respond and to handle your question, bug report, or feedback. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing support and improving Bellwork under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We keep the correspondence only as long as needed to handle your request, unless a longer retention period is legally required.
The contact form is hosted by Google Forms and requires your email address. It also receives the category you choose, your message, and — when opened from Bellwork — the app version prefilled by the app. Google Ireland Limited processes the submission under Google's privacy policy. The form does not ask for your name.
Launch notifications
If you ask to be notified when Bellwork launches, we store your email address for that purpose, send you one email once the app is available, and then delete your address. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, and you can withdraw it at any time by emailing contact@bellworkapp.com.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to object to its processing. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW).
Because Bellwork's training data stays on your device and is not accessible to us, these rights generally apply only to data we actually receive or process, such as support correspondence and technical website-hosting data. To exercise your rights, email contact@bellworkapp.com.
Changes
We may update this policy if Bellwork's data practices change. Any updates will appear on this page, and the "Last updated" date will change. The guiding principle remains that your Bellwork training data stays on your device unless you choose to send or save it somewhere else.
