Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Bellwork iOS app and this website, bellworkapp.com.

The short version

Bellwork keeps all of your data on your device and sends none of it anywhere. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. We cannot see your profile, your workouts, or anything else you enter. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics either.

Who is responsible

The controller within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the Bellwork app and this website is:

This website

This website is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics, and embeds no third-party content. If you pick an accent color on the homepage, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site can remember it; it never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

The site is hosted in Germany by united-domains AG, Gautinger Straße 10, 82319 Starnberg, Germany. Like almost every web server, the hosting provider's servers record technical access logs when you visit — the requested page, the date and time, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. These logs are used only to deliver the site reliably and to detect and defend against abuse, which is our legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR. We do not use them to identify visitors, and they are deleted according to the hosting provider's standard retention schedule.

What the Bellwork app stores

Everything you create in the app is saved in a private database on your device: your profile and training preferences, your progression state, every workout you log, any other training you record, your workout templates, your settings, and any in-progress workout drafts.

This data lives only in Bellwork's own storage on your device. It is not uploaded, synced to a Bellwork server, or shared with the developer or any third party.

What the Bellwork app does not collect

Bellwork has no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or usage tracking. It does not use advertising or third-party marketing tools. It does not collect your name, email, location, contacts, or device identifiers. It does not build a profile of you or sell or share data, because it never receives your data in the first place.

Apple Health

Apple Health access is optional and turned off until you enable it. Bellwork asks Apple Health for permission separately, and you can grant or revoke that access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.

When enabled, Bellwork reads only the type and time of your recent workouts, and uses them purely as hints to suggest other training you might want to log. It does not read heart rate, calories, body weight, sleep, or any other health data. If you also turn on saving to Apple Health, Bellwork adds your completed Bellwork kettlebell workouts — and only those, never other training you log, like runs, walks, or classes.

Workouts read from Apple Health do not affect your prescriptions until you manually tag their type and intensity. Anything read from Apple Health stays on your device under the same rules as the rest of your data.

Exporting your data

You can export all of your data as a JSON file at any time from Settings. Bellwork creates the file and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet so you can save it to Files, send it to another app, or store it wherever you choose.

Once you share or save that file, it leaves Bellwork and is governed by wherever you put it — for example, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or another app's privacy terms. Bellwork has no involvement in or visibility into the file after you export it.

Backups

Because Bellwork's data lives on your device, it is included in your normal device backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, Bellwork's data is part of that backup and is handled under Apple's (or your computer's) backup terms, not by Bellwork. Bellwork itself does not run any cloud backup or sync.

Deleting your data

Your data stays on your device until you remove it. Deleting the Bellwork app deletes its database and all of the data inside it. There is nothing stored on a Bellwork server to delete, because nothing is ever sent to one. (Any data already covered by a device backup follows that backup's own retention.)

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use them only to answer you (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR). We keep the correspondence as long as needed to handle your request.

Our in-app contact form is hosted by Google (Google Forms). Anything you enter there is processed by Google Ireland Limited under Google's privacy policy. The form does not ask for your name or email address unless you choose to include them in your message.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because your training data never leaves your device, in practice these rights mainly apply to correspondence you send us — but you can contact us about any of them at contact@bellworkapp.com.

Children

Bellwork is a general-purpose training app and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone — adults or children — because it does not collect personal information at all.

Changes

If how Bellwork handles data ever changes, this page will be updated to describe the new behavior before it takes effect. The current principle is simple and is not expected to change: your data stays on your device.
